posted Oct 25, 2011, 1:10 PM by Yvonne Mitchell-Grubb   [ updated Oct 25, 2011, 1:25 PM ]

When: Begin Tuesday, Oct. 25, 10:00 am End Friday, Nov. 11

Where: City Hall, 1300 Perdido Street | City Council Chamber

Except where noted in the attachment, all hearing days begin at 10:00 a.m.

As you no doubt know, the City Council today began its hearings on the Mayor's proposed budget for 2012.  As the final arbiters of the budget, this is the most important task (and power) of the Council.  Attached is a guide to key aspects of the proposed budget, along with the schedule of City Council budget hearings for each city agency and department.  This has been compiled as part of CBNO's collaboration with the New Orleans Coalition on Open Governance (NOCOG).

We as citizens have the opportunity to appear at these budget hearings and/or to contact our Councilmembers and provide our input -- to make sure our priorities are funded.  I hope you will take a little time to review this information, and hopefully, express your opinions to the City Council during the process to finalize the 2012 budget.  After all, it is our money and our city, and we should be the ones who decide.
