With a stamp of approval from the Louisiana House of Representatives, advocacy efforts from a Westbank Coalition of Business and Civic Organizations resulted in the passage of SCR 47, which will allow a 10-member task force appointed by the governor to conduct a comprehensive analysis of the future of the Crescent City Connection Division between August 2011 and February 2011.

In the next step, the organizations that will have representation on the task force will submit names of potential task force members to Governor Bobby Jindal. The Governor will name the formal task force by July 15

Task Force nominating entities include the Algiers Neighborhood President's Council;  the Algiers Economic Development Foundation;  the Jefferson Chamber of Commerce; the Plaquemines Association of Business and Industry; Friends of the Ferry;  Algiers Neighborhood President's Council; West Jefferson Civic Association, the Terry Town Civic Association, Inc., and the Westbank Redevelopment Corporation, Inc.; the Jefferson Business Council; Greater New Orleans, Inc.; the St. Bernard Chamber of Commerce.

The Coalition issues the following statement: "We embarked upon this effort as a regional unit with a common goal. It is our hope that this task force will be equipped with qualified community leaders who will provide citizens and our elected leadership with comprehensible information and recommendations regarding the future of the CCCD operations and infrastructural planning for the Westbank in the future."

In addition to the task force, the resolution allows for a five member advisory panel comprised of local and state experts in law enforcement, regional planning, engineering and maritime.
