![]() Lewis-Carter was a teacher and special education coordinator, but felt becoming a principal would enable her to better help children learn. She has been principal at Martin Behrman Charter of Arts and Science since 2005. Lewis-Carter said leading the school after Hurricane Katrina had a profound impact on her.
